Handicap indexes are calculated using a modified World Handicap System. Each qualifying round produces a Score Differential — (113 ÷ Slope) × (Gross Score − Course Rating) — and the best results from a player's last 20 rounds determine their index. Only stroke play, stableford, and skins rounds count. A minimum of 3 qualifying rounds (54 holes) is required to establish a handicap — that's the World Handicap System's own threshold, not a rule specific to this site. It's a different, smaller minimum than the stat leaderboards' 5-round-equivalent qualifier, on purpose: a handicap can be legitimately established with three rounds, while a rate stat like birdies-per-round needs a bigger sample to mean anything.
